Big Pond Housekeeping Cottages opened their doors to the public in January 2002. Cyril and Anne MacPherson are the owners of this new enterprise on the beautiful Bras d'Or Lakes in Big Pond. The cottages are found on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, sixty minutes east of Port Hawkesbury and thirty minutes west of Sydney on Route 4.

There are six two bedroom cottages situated on a hill providing a panoramic view of the Bras d'Or Lakes. Very often eagles can be seen soaring high above the cottages. A sandy, salt water beach can be found just five minutes drive down the road. Big Pond is home to an annual festival held each July and is also a venue for Celtic Colors held in October. The Lakes Golf Club (opening spring 2010) is just a ten minute drive away and has been developed as a world-class, five-star golf course. Big Pond is also the home of Rita's Tea Room just five minutes from cottages.
Each cottage has two bedrooms with a double bed and two single beds. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans and clock radios. The barrier free unit has one bedroom with a double bed and a bedroom with a single bed.
Our kitchens are fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, coffee percolator, microwave, pots and pans, toaster, dishes, etc.
Living area has propane fireplace, satellite T.V., double pull out sofa and a ceiling fan.
Five of the bathrooms have whirlpool tubs and the barrier free unit is equipped with a barrier free shower stall.
Our cottages are fully winterized with propane fireplaces and infloor heating. Laundry facilities are available for our guests.
Maximum capacity per cottage is six persons.
